Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Sales Engineer to promote and sell functional thermoplastic solutions to the electronic enclosure industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying potential clients, managing existing accounts, and developing relationships with engineers and procurement professionals to understand their needs and recommend suitable materials for their electronic enclosures. A strong technical background is essential to convey the benefits of thermoplastic materials and align them with client applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of the functional thermoplastic materials, including their mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties, as well as applications in electronic enclosures.
  • Identify potential clients in the electronic enclosure industry, establish relationships, and drive new business.
  • Consult with engineers, designers, and procurement teams at client organizations to assess their product needs and recommend appropriate thermoplastic materials.
  • Provide technical support and guidance throughout the sales cycle, including offering insights into the performance benefits and cost-effectiveness of thermoplastics.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to highlight the advantages of thermoplastics for specific enclosure designs.
  • Collaborate with product development and R&D teams to stay updated on new material innovations and market trends.
  • Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to promote the company’s thermoplastic solutions.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms of sales agreements, ensuring mutually beneficial outcomes for both the company and the client.
  • Track sales activities, manage CRM systems, and report on sales performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Additional qualifications or certifications in Plastics Technology or Polymers will be advantageous.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technical sales, particularly within the plastics, polymers, or materials industry.
  • Prior experience selling materials or components to the electronics industry is highly desirable.
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong understanding of thermoplastic materials and their applications in electronics, including knowledge of compliance with industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify customer needs and translate them into tailored product solutions.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and relationship-building skills.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and the ability to read engineering drawings is a plus.
