Quantity Surveyor

1. Cost Planning & Estimation

• Prepare detailed cost estimates at various project stages (conceptual to execution).

• Benchmark costs using historical data and market trends.

• Advise on cost-effective materials and construction methods.

2. Rate Analysis

• Break down unit rates for labor, materials, machinery, and overheads.

• Use standard methods (e.g., CPWD, DSR, or customized company formats).

• Validate contractor rates and support tender evaluations.

• Ensure rates align with market fluctuations and project-specific conditions.

3. Tendering & Contract Management

• Prepare BOQs (Bill of Quantities) and tender documents.

• Evaluate bids technically and commercially.

• Assist in drafting and negotiating contracts with clear scope and deliverables.

4. Reconciliation

• Material Reconciliation: Compare theoretical vs. actual consumption of cement, steel, aggregates, etc.

• Financial Reconciliation: Track contractor bills vs. work done vs. payments released.

• Client Billing Reconciliation: Align internal cost records with client-certified quantities and values.

5. Cash Flow Management

• Prepare monthly and quarterly cash flow forecasts.

• Monitor inflow (client payments) and outflow (contractor/vendor payments).

• Flag potential cash crunches and suggest corrective actions.

• Align cash flow with project milestones and procurement schedules.

6. Cost Control & Value Engineering

• Monitor budget vs. actual costs in real time.

• Identify cost overruns and recommend corrective measures.

• Propose value engineering options without compromising quality or design intent.

7. Progress Measurement & Billing

• Certify contractor bills based on physical progress and BOQ.

• Coordinate with site engineers for joint measurements.

• Ensure timely submission and approval of RA bills.

8. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain cost reports, reconciliation statements, and billing logs.

• Support audits with transparent, well-documented records.

• Provide MIS reports to management and clients.
