Laundry Worker (Dhobi)

A laundry worker sorts, washes, dries, and folds clothes and linens, operates machinery, treats stains, and performs quality checks. They also manage inventory, maintain the cleanliness of the laundry area, and may interact with customers, handle payments, and assist with deliveries. 

Key responsibilities

• Cleaning and processing: Sort laundry by color and fabric, operate washing and drying machines, treat stains, and ensure items are properly dried and folded. 
• Quality control: Inspect cleaned items for quality, checking for stains or damage before they are finished. 
• Equipment and maintenance: Operate laundry equipment, report any malfunctions, and maintain the cleanliness of the laundry room and machines. 
• Inventory management: Keep track of supplies like detergents and provide notification when stock is low. 
• Customer service (for some roles): Assist customers, handle payments and special requests, and manage drop-off and pick-up procedures. 
• Administrative tasks: Tag and label items, track inventory, and prepare orders for delivery. 

Required skills

• Attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to perform manual labor, including lifting and standing for long periods
• Knowledge of different fabrics and their care requirements
• Familiarity with operating industrial laundry equipment
• Strong physical stamina
