Job Description

A field sales executive is a sales professional who meets with clients face-to-face in a specific territory to sell products or services. Their responsibilities include generating new leads, building customer relationships, performing product demonstrations, negotiating deals, and meeting sales targets. They are often required to have strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. 

Key responsibilities

  • Prospecting and Lead Generation: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within an assigned territory.
  • Client Engagement: Meet with potential and existing customers to understand their needs and present solutions.
  • Sales and Negotiation: Conduct product demonstrations, present sales pitches, and negotiate contracts to close deals.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction and encourage repeat business.
  • Reporting and Forecasting: Keep track of sales activities and provide regular reports and forecasts to management. 

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Sales and negotiation skills: Proven ability to sell, negotiate, and close deals.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: Strong ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Customer service: Ability to provide excellent customer service and address customer concerns.
  • Time management: Ability to manage their own schedule and travel efficiently to meet with clients.
  • Product knowledge: Must have a good understanding of the products or services being sold.
  • Experience: Previous experience in field sales is often required, though entry-level positions may be available for candidates with a passion for sales. 

Work environment

  • This role is based "in the field," meaning the executive spends a significant amount of time traveling and meeting with clients outside of a traditional office setting.
  • It is crucial for the role to have reliable transportation (sometimes a two-wheeler is required, as noted on Job Hai).
  • The job often involves working independently, but also collaborating with the broader sales team to achieve company goals
