Job Title-Electrical Engineer

Reporting To Administrative Officer
Job SummaryThe Electrical Engineer is responsible for the planning, operation, maintenance, and supervision of all electrical systems and equipment within the medical college and hospital campus. The role ensures uninterrupted power supply, compliance with safety regulations, efficient energy management, and reliable functioning of critical healthcare infrastructure.
- Key ResponsibilitiesElectrical Systems MaintenanceSupervise operation and maintenance of electrical installations, including HT/LT systems.
- Ensure continuous power supply to hospital departments, operation theaters, ICUs, laboratories, and academic buildings.
- Monitor transformers, switchgear, panels, circuit breakers, and distribution systems.
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment.
- Power Backup ManagementManage diesel generators (DG sets), UPS systems, and battery banks.
- Ensure emergency power systems are operational at all times.
- Conduct periodic testing of backup power systems.
- Hospital Equipment SupportCoordinate with biomedical engineering and clinical departments regarding electrical requirements of medical equipment.
- Ensure proper electrical connections and safety for diagnostic and treatment equipment.
- Assist in installation and commissioning of new medical devices.
- Safety and ComplianceEnsure compliance with electrical safety standards, hospital regulations, and statutory requirements.
- Conduct electrical safety audits and inspections.
- Implement fire prevention measures related to electrical installations.
- Maintain records required by electrical inspectorate and regulatory authorities.
- Project ManagementPlan and supervise electrical projects, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Prepare technical specifications, estimates, and tender documents.
- Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and vendors.
- Verify work quality and certify contractor bills.
- Energy ManagementMonitor electricity consumption and identify energy-saving opportunities.
- Implement energy-efficient systems and practices.
- Analyze utility bills and recommend cost-reduction measures.
- Documentation and ReportingMaintain maintenance logs, equipment records, drawings, and electrical schematics.
- Prepare reports on breakdowns, maintenance activities, and project progress.
- Ensure proper inventory management of electrical spares and consumables.
- Team SupervisionSupervise electricians, technicians, and maintenance staff.
- Assign work schedules and monitor performance.
- Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance personnel.
- QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech/Diploma) from a recognized university.
- Valid Electrical Supervisor License (where applicable under state regulations).
- Knowledge of hospital electrical systems and healthcare infrastructure is preferred.
- Experience Minimum –5 years of experience in electrical maintenance and operations.
- Experience in hospitals, medical colleges, healthcare facilities, or large institutional campuses is desirable.
- Experience handling DG sets, UPS systems, and electrical safety compliance.
- Technical SkillsElectrical power distribution systems.
- DG sets, transformers, UPS, and battery systems.
- Preventive maintenance planning.
- Leadership and team management skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to work under emergency and critical situations.
- Time management and organizational skills.
- Working Conditions Hostels ,Staff Quarters, Hospital and Digital educational campus environment.
- May require emergency call-outs and after-hours support.
- Exposure to electrical equipment, maintenance activities, and infrastructure projects.
