Job Description
Position: Fireproofing Site Engineer Department: Construction / Fire Protection Location: Project Site (as applicable) Reports to: Project Manager / Construction Manager 1. Execution & Site Supervision - Supervise and execute fireproofing works (intumescent, cementitious, or vermiculite-based systems) as per approved drawings and specifications. - Ensure correct surface preparation, mixing ratios, and thickness application as per manufacturer data sheets. - Monitor application quality including adhesion tests and dry film thickness (DFT). - Coordinate with painting, coating, insulation, and structure teams to maintain sequencing. - Verify substrate conditions before application. 2. Quality Assurance & Control - Implement QA/QC procedures in compliance with project quality plans. - Maintain inspection records for substrate, primer, fireproofing, and final coat. - Conduct tests as per ASTM, UL, or IS standards. - Coordinate with third-party inspectors or client QA representatives. - Ensure mock-up approvals and adherence to work method statements.
3. Material & Resource Management - Plan and monitor material consumption, maintain stock records. - Store materials (intumescent, vermiculite, mesh, etc.) per manufacturer guidelines. - Coordinate with procurement for timely delivery and batch traceability. - Verify material certificates and MSDS documentation. 4. Coordination & Documentation - Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors for progress and approvals. - Prepare daily progress reports, inspection requests, and method statements. - Support project planning, sequencing, and tracking of fireproofing activities. - Attend coordination meetings and toolbox talks. 5. Safety & Compliance - Enforce safety procedures during fireproofing application (PPE, ventilation, mixing safety). - Ensure compliance with HSE policies and conduct safety assessments.
Technical Competence - Interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and fireproofing layouts. - Follow manufacturer's TDS and application manuals. - Provide technical support to site teams and subcontractors
