Accountant

Key Responsibilities Financial

• Reporting & Analysis Prepare and analyze accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including Balance Sheets, Income Statements, and Cash Flow Statements.
• Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce detailed financial reports and forecasts (budgeting, variance analysis).
• Ensure timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax forms (e.g., GST/VAT, Income Tax) and compliance with relevant financial regulations.
• Prepare detailed reports on sales performance, gross margins by product line, and profitability.
• Inventory & Cost Accounting
• Oversee and manage the highly sensitive jewellery inventory accounting, including tracking consignments, metal weights, stone values, and finished goods.
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls over inventory counts and valuation (e.g., FIFO, Weighted Average Cost, or Specific Identification method, depending on company policy).
• Calculate the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), ensuring accurate attribution of labor, metal, and gemstone costs to each piece.
• Conduct and reconcile periodic physical inventory counts with the general ledger.

General Ledger & Operations

• Manage all accounting operations, including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), general ledger, and bank reconciliation.
• Process and manage payroll, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, commissions, and deductions.
• Reconcile point-of-sale (POS) systems data with daily sales records and bank deposits.
• Handle all aspects of cash management, including petty cash and secure transfer processes.
