Job Description
Job Title: Site Engineer
Location: Jaipur / Kota / Bijainagar
Department: Operations / Installation & Commissioning
Reporting To: Project Manager
Job Summary
A Solar Site Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution, supervision, and quality control of solar power plant installation and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Survey and Assessment
- Conduct site inspections and feasibility studies.
- Analyze site conditions, shading, terrain, and structural requirements.
- Verify project drawings and specifications before execution.
- Project Execution
- Supervise installation of solar PV modules, mounting structures, inverters, and associated equipment.
- Ensure work is completed according to approved drawings and project schedules.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Quality Control
- Monitor installation quality and ensure compliance with technical standards.
- Conduct inspections and quality checks during all phases of construction.
- Identify and rectify installation defects or non-conformities.
- Electrical and Mechanical Supervision
- Oversee DC and AC cable laying, termination, and testing.
- Supervise earthing, lightning protection, and inverter installation.
- Ensure proper alignment and fixing of module mounting structures.
- Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
- Enforce site safety procedures and regulations.
- Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report and investigate safety incidents.
- Testing and Commissioning
- Perform pre-commissioning inspections and testing.
- Coordinate system commissioning activities.
- Verify performance parameters and system functionality.
- Support grid synchronization activities where applicable.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain daily progress reports and site records.
- Prepare material consumption and inventory reports.
- Document inspections, testing results, and commissioning records.
- Submit project status updates to management.
- Material Management
- Verify receipt of materials as per specifications.
- Monitor material usage and prevent wastage.
- Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams for site requirements.
- Client and Team Coordination
- Attend project meetings with clients and stakeholders.
- Resolve technical issues arising during execution.
- Guide technicians, supervisors, and installation teams.
- Operation and Maintenance Support
- Assist in troubleshooting system faults.
- Support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Monitor system performance and recommend improvements.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of solar PV systems and electrical engineering principles.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and single-line diagrams (SLDs).
- Familiarity with solar design standards and safety regulations.
- Project management and team coordination skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and reporting tools.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
