Assistant Store Manager

About the Role (Job Summary)​As the Assistant Store Manager for our Swiggy Instamart Dark Store, you will be the operational backbone, ensuring ultra-fast and accurate fulfillment of grocery orders. You will directly manage the daily flow of goods—from receiving inventory to dispatching packed orders to Delivery Executives (DEs)—to maintain our 10-15 minute delivery promise. This role requires strong leadership, data-driven decision-making, and an ability to thrive in a high-speed environment.

​Key Responsibilities (What You Will Do)​1. Quick Order Fulfillment (Core Metric)

• ​Supervise the picking and packing team to ensure all online orders are fulfilled (picked, packed, and billed) accurately and within the strict time limits.
• ​Coordinate with Delivery Executives (DEs) for fast order handover and minimize wait times at the store.
• ​Monitor real-time dashboards to identify and resolve any bottlenecks in the order-to-dispatch process.

​2. Inventory & Stock Management

• ​Oversee the efficient receiving and storage of FMCG, Groceries, and other products (2500+ SKUs).
• ​Conduct daily/weekly stock audits (stock-taking) and reconcile inventory counts using the internal WMS (Warehouse Management System).
• ​Manage stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO) to prevent product expiry and reduce shrinkage.
• ​Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and product organization in the dark store.

​3. Team Leadership & Operations

• ​Lead, train, and motivate a team of Pickers, Packers, and Store Associates (typically 10-15 workers).
• ​Manage staff scheduling, allocate daily tasks, and ensure discipline across all shifts (rotational).
• ​Ensure compliance with all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safety, hygiene, and operations.
• ​Assist the Store Manager in preparing daily operational reports and analyzing performance data (e.g., fulfillment speed, picking errors).
• ​Required Qualifications & Skills​Education: 12th Pass minimum; Graduate preferred.
• ​Experience: 1-3 years of proven experience in warehouse operations, retail operations, logistics, or dark store management.
• ​Industry Knowledge: Prior experience in Quick Commerce (Instamart, Zepto, Blinkit) or managing FMCG/Grocery inventory is a big advantage.
• ​Technical Skills: Proficient in using a Smartphone, comfortable with basic MS Excel or internal inventory management software, and able to analyze simple data.
• ​Soft Skills: Strong leadership, excellent communication (local language + basic English/Hindi), problem-solving ability, and high adaptability.
• ​Availability: Willingness to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and peak hours/holidays.
