Senior Interior Designer

Position Summary

The Senior Interior Designer leads the creative and technical development of interior design projects from concept through completion. This role oversees design strategy, client engagement, project coordination, and quality control while mentoring junior designers and ensuring all design solutions align with the client’s vision, brand, and project goals.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Creative Development

Lead concept development, space planning, and design presentations.

Produce detailed design packages including mood boards, material palettes, FF&E selections, and 3D visualizations.

Ensure all design solutions reflect current trends, functionality, sustainability, and brand guidelines.

Project Management

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from schematic design to handover.

Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and vendors.

Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, schedules, and documentation.

Review and approve shop drawings, samples, and mockups.

Conduct site visits to ensure design execution matches approved plans.

Client Engagement

Lead client meetings, presentations, and design reviews.

Understand client needs and translate them into creative design solutions.

Maintain strong relationships through responsive communication and professional guidance.

Team Leadership

Mentor junior designers, providing direction and support on design deliverables.

Assign tasks, review work, and maintain high-quality design standards.

Contribute to team training, design research, and internal knowledge sharing.

Technical & Administrative

Ensure all design documents comply with building codes, health and safety regulations, and industry standards.

Prepare project budgets, cost estimates, and FF&E procurement lists.

Track project timelines and ensure deliverables are submitted as scheduled.

Qualifications

Education & Certification

Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field (Master’s preferred).

Professional certification (NCIDQ, LEED, or equivalent) is a plus.

Experience

1 year of professional interior design experience.

Strong portfolio showcasing completed residential, commercial, or hospitality projects.

Experience leading design teams and managing end-to-end projects.

Skills & Competencies

Expert-level design, space planning, and detailing skills.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Photoshop, InDesign, and other design tools.

Strong understanding of materials, lighting, color theory, and FF&E.

Excellent presentation, communication, and client-facing skills.

Ability to manage budgets, timelines, and multi-disciplinary teams.

Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.

Knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and construction processes.

Work Environment

Office-based with regular site visits and vendor showroom meetings.

Fast-paced, collaborative, deadline-driven environment.

Occasional travel based on project needs.
