Accountant

An accountant in a billing role is responsible for managing accounts receivable, processing payments, and maintaining accurate accounting records. Some of their responsibilities include:

Processing accounts receivable: Handling high-volume transactions, recalculating, verifying, posting, and reporting financial data

Managing payments: Collecting payments from customers, and sending reminders for late payments

Preparing financial reports: Tracking income and expenses, and preparing quarterly financial reports

Resolving issues: Identifying and resolving billing errors, discrepancies, and late payments

Assisting with audits: Working with the firm's independent auditors

Analyzing finances: Performing financial analysis to improve cash flow and reduce outstanding balances

Submitting reimbursement claims: Verifying the authenticity of claims, and ensuring compliance with company guidelines

Billing specialists may also be responsible for creating invoices, updating client records, and suggesting payment assistance programs.

Billing specialists typically need a bachelor's degree in a related subject, and may also need training or certifications in using billing software.
