Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Environmental Laboratory Chemist with 3+ years of experience in environmental and food testing laboratories. The candidate will be responsible for conducting chemical and physical analyses of water, wastewater, food products, sludge, and environmental samples to ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

• Key ResponsibilitiesPerform chemical, physical, and instrumental analysis of:
• Drinking water
• Groundwater and surface water
• Wastewater and effluent samples
• Food and agricultural products
• Solid waste, sludge, and environmental samples
• Conduct testing for parameters such as:
• pH, TDS, TSS, BOD, COD
• Heavy metals
• Nutrients (Nitrate, Phosphate, Ammonia)
• Oil & Grease
• Sulphates, Chlorides, Fluorides
• Moisture, Ash, Protein, Fat, and other food quality parameters
• Operate and maintain laboratory instruments including:
• UV-Visible Spectrophotometer
• AAS (Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer)
• ICP-OES / ICP-MS
• HPLC
• GC / GC-MS
• TOC Analyzer
• Prepare reagents, standards, and calibration solutions.
• Perform method validation, calibration, and quality control checks.
• Maintain laboratory records, test reports, and documentation according to ISO 17025 requirements.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, laboratory safety procedures, and quality management systems.
• Investigate non-conforming results and support corrective actions.
• Coordinate with field sampling teams and project managers regarding sample collection and analysis requirements.
• Support environmental monitoring, waste management, and sustainability projects.
• Required QualificationsBachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Analytical Chemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in an environmental, water, wastewater, food, or analytical testing laboratory.
• Knowledge of national and international testing standards such as:
• APHA
• BIS
• IS Methods
• EPA Methods
• ISO Standards
• Experience with laboratory quality systems and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
• Proficiency in data analysis, report preparation, and laboratory software.
• Required SkillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in water and wastewater testing.
• Knowledge of food chemistry and environmental monitoring.
• Instrument troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Good documentation and reporting skills.
• Understanding of waste management and environmental compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Preferred QualificationsExperience in NABL-accredited laboratories.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and pollution control requirements.
• Experience handling audits and proficiency testing programs.
• Familiarity with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management Systems).
