Job description We are looking for a talented Senior Database Administration Engineer for the R&D Engineering function of Medtronic Engineering and Innovation Center R&D facility for our Cardiac Rhythm and Heart Failure (CRHF) Software division. This individual will serve as a data warehouse administrator supporting the Data Management team. The SQL Server data warehouse administrator will work with other engineers, developers and database administration personnel in the organization to develop code to support the data management team and execute on the designs established by the Data Management Lead. Roles and Responsibilities Implement the physical database environment, business and presentation layers Monitor and maintain database backups and recovery procedures Manage database maintenance, implementing optimal strategies for indexing, statistics, and database integrity Maintain SQL Server versioning through management of patches and upgrades Plan for and allocate the SQL Server systems physical requirements, such as memory, disk space and CPU Manage user profiles, ensuring system security by careful allocation of user permissions Utilize monitoring and alerting tools to identify SQL Server Performance & Resource Issues Develop necessary code to support the advancement of the data warehouse Conduct design and code reviews to ensure code developed meets or exceeds coding best practices guidelines, unit testing, security, and scalability and maintainability guidelines Identify and drive continuous software development process improvement initiatives Meet or exceed all project schedule milestones, cost and quality objectives
