Whenever you are appearing for an interview, you generally prepare yourself for what all you might have to say or answer in an interview.
But do you know that there are a few things that you should NOT say in an interview ever? It’s because saying such statements leaves a negative impression on the interviewer, and hence, it can reduce your chances of selection for the applied job. Read here to know the top 10 things you should abstain from saying in an interview:
- 1.”What is the Job Description (JD)?”
This is a common mistake that most people commit. Asking about the JD in the interview shows that you didn’t read the JD earlier if it was communicated to you by the employer or if it was published on the job application portal. Instead, you can ask for the clarity about the job responsibilities.
2. “I can handle any situation”
This statement shows that you are over-confident, which is not a preferred trait in any situation. You should be confident about your skills and experiences but you can’t say that you can handle any situation since you are not a superhero!

4. Negative comments on previous job or your boss
Maybe you hated your job, maybe you hated your boss, you should never criticize them in your interview. You may be genuine but criticizing your previous job & bosses shows that you easily get affected by harsh or undesirable environment at the job and might face difficulty in adjusting in the new company as well.
5. Saying that you need the job badly
You might have been looking for a job for a long time. But you should not express such feelings in any manner. Saying that you need a job badly shows your desperation for that job and the employer may take advantage of your need to negotiate in salary, perks or terms & conditions of the job.

When the interviewer asks you about the question that you want to ask the interviewer, you shouldn’t say that you have no questions. You should always ask some meaningful question that can depict your interest in the company or the job.
