Current college students pursuing graduation/post graduation in any discipline.
Students can form cross-course, cross-college and cross-year teams as well.

Round 1: Online MCQ Assessment

The preliminary assessment will be an Online MCQ Assessment. The test will comprise of 20 MCQ questions to be answered in 20 minutes based on Data Interpretation and Analytics. Only the team leader will be allowed to take the test.

Round 2: Business Use-Case (Offline Event on Campus)

The shortlisted teams will be invited to the N. L. Dalmia Campus, Mumbai for the final round where the case study will be released on Day 1. The algorithms, analytical tools, and techniques to tackle the problem statement are at the discretion of the participants. Submissions, including a detailed report in a Word document, a PowerPoint presentation, and other analytical artifacts such as a Jupyter Notebook (.ipynb) file, etc, for the jury, are expected by 10 AM on 15th February, 2025. The teams must bring their systems for solving the Business Use Case.

What are the competition rounds?

Can non-participants attend DecodeX?

Yes, DecodeX welcomes non-participants to attend workshops, DJ night, and stand-up comedy. They must carry their valid college ID cards for verification purposes.

Can I bring friends to the event?

Yes, participants can bring their college friends to enjoy the workshops, DJ night, and stand-up comedy. All attendees must carry a valid college ID card for entry and register through the provided link.

Is there a dress code for DecodeX?

Day 1: Participants can opt for casual or semi-formal attire, ensuring it’s decent and appropriate for the event. Day 2: Presenting teams are required to wear formal attire for their presentations.

What do I need for verification?

Participants must carry their valid college ID and Aadhaar card for verification during the event.

Will accommodation and food be provided for the offline round?

Accommodation and vegetarian meals will be provided on campus; transportation is the participant's responsibility. However, participants are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the venue.

What equipment should I bring?

Participants must bring their own laptops and ensure they are fully functional and compatible for the competition requirements. Don’t forget to bring your chargers to stay powered throughout the event!

What is the Code of Conduct for DecodeX?

DecodeX enforces a strict Code of Conduct to ensure fairness and professionalism: Zero Tolerance for Misconduct - Plagiarism, misbehavior, or any unethical actions will result in immediate disqualification. Plagiarism Policy - All case studies will be checked for originality using a plagiarism checker. Plagiarism should not exceed 10%. Plagiarism includes copying content directly from sources without proper credit or replicating work from fellow participants. Collaboration vs. Copying - Participants are encouraged to collaborate within their teams but are strictly prohibited from copying solutions or content from other teams. Adhering to these rules is essential to maintain the integrity and spirit of the competition.

How will my personal information be used?

Personal information collected during registration will be used solely by the Institute and event partners for evaluation, verification, and participant support.

Will guidance be provided during the hackathon?

Yes, guidance will be available during the hackathon to help you understand the data and clarify any doubts about the case study. However, while we’ll assist you in moving forward, solving the case study is entirely up to you and your team!

What tools can participants use during DecodeX?

1. Analytical Tools - We recommend using industry-relevant analytical tools, including but not limited to: Programming Languages: Python, R, SQL; Data Visualization Tools: Power BI, Tableau; Advanced Analytics Platforms: JMP, Alteryx. 2. Productivity Tools - For personal development and presentation: Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word. 3. AI Tools - Participants are allowed to use OpenAI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to enhance their analysis and solutions. 4. Flexibility in Tools - There are no restrictions on the tools you choose, but all required software must be pre-installed and fully operational on your device before the event. Make sure your toolkit is ready to handle the challenges ahead!
