The Marvel of Modern Refinery Engineering: From Crude to Consumer

Refineries are the backbone of the energy value chain - where science, scale, and precision converge to power everyday life. As energy systems grow more complex, modern refineries are evolving into highly efficient, digitally enabled, and sustainability-driven hubs that balance performance, flexibility, and responsibility.

For a rapidly growing nation like India, advanced refinery engineering is critical to ensuring energy security, cost efficiency, and a smooth transition toward cleaner fuels. Innovation in process design, digitalisation, and decarbonisation is redefining how crude is transformed into products that fuel mobility, industry, and growth.

In this masterclass, HPCL’s Director - Refineries, Shri. S. Bharathan, will take students inside the world of modern refining, sharing real-world insights on technology, transformation, and leadership behind India’s refining excellence.
