Scheduler

Role Overview

Scheduler in a Metro Rail Project is responsible for developing, monitoring, and controlling the project schedule for all phases of metro construction—civil works, stations, viaduct/tunnel, systems, rolling stock, and integration. The role ensures project timelines are realistic, coordinated across multiple contractors, and aligned with contractual, safety, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Planning & Baseline Development

  • Prepare detailed project schedules using Primavera P6/MS Project.

  • Develop WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) aligned to project scope.

  • Establish baseline schedules for civil, systems, track, signaling, rolling stock, and depot works.

  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to finalize schedule logic.

2. Schedule Monitoring & Control

  • Track progress against baseline and update schedules regularly.

  • Identify delays, float consumption, critical path changes, and time-risk exposure.

  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly progress reports.

3. Coordination & Interface Management

  • Coordinate schedule inputs from multiple packages (EPC, D&B, system integrators).

  • Ensure interface alignment between civil & system works (e.g., MEP, AFC, telecom, signaling).

  • Participate in internal and client coordination meetings.

4. Delay Analysis & Claims Support

  • Perform delay analysis (TIL, Impacted As-Planned, Windows Analysis).

  • Highlight potential schedule impacts to avoid contractual disputes.

  • Support contractors and client teams in extension of time (EoT) assessments.

5. Risk & Mitigation Planning

  • Perform schedule risk assessment using probabilistic tools where required.

  • Recommend mitigation measures to avoid slippages.

6. Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare dashboards, S-curves, manpower histograms, progress trackers.

  • Maintain schedule logs, progress documentation, and change records.

Skills & Competencies

Technical Skills

  • Strong command over Primavera P6 (mandatory).

  • Knowledge of MS ProjectTilos, or BIM 4D tools (advantageous).

  • Understanding of metro construction processes, including:

    • Tunneling (TBM, NATM)

    • Elevated viaduct and station construction

    • Trackwork (ballastless track)

    • Power supply & traction

    • Signaling & telecommunication

    • Rolling stock integration

  • Familiarity with FIDIC or similar contract conditions.

Analytical & Soft Skills

  • Critical path method (CPM) analysis.

  • Strong coordination & multi-stakeholder communication.

  • Data-driven problem-solving.

  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and on complex, multi-package projects.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • B.Tech / B.E. in Civil Engineering,, or related discipline.

  • Certification in project planning (Primavera / PMI-SP) is an asset.

Experience

 experience in Metro Rail / Infrastructure scheduling.

  • Experience working with contractors, consultants, or metro authorities preferred.
