Job Summary

An Assembly Fitter is responsible for assembling, fitting, and installing mechanical components and machinery according to engineering drawings and technical specifications. The role requires precision, mechanical knowledge, and adherence to safety and quality standards to ensure finished products meet operational requirements.

• Key Responsibilities
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions.
• Assemble mechanical components, sub-assemblies, and complete machinery.
• Fit, align, and adjust parts to ensure proper functioning.
• Use hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
• Perform drilling, tapping, grinding, and minor fabrication tasks.
• Inspect assembled parts for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
• Identify and report defects or deviations from design standards.
• Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
• Follow workplace safety regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain clean and organized work areas.
• Required Skills and Competencies
• Strong mechanical aptitude and technical understanding.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of fitting techniques, tolerances, and alignments.
• Proficiency in using measuring tools (e.g., vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges).
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Qualifications and Experience
• Trade certification in Mechanical Fitting or related field (preferred).
• Previous experience in assembly, fitting, or manufacturing environment (1–3 years typically required).
• Basic knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Working Conditions
• Workshop or factory environment.
• May require standing for long periods.
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
• May involve lifting heavy components.
