Biomedical Engineer

Job SummaryThe Biomedical Engineer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and safe functioning of all biomedical equipment in the hospital. The role ensures uninterrupted clinical services, patient safety, and compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (NABH).

• Key ResponsibilitiesEquipment ManagementInstall, test, and commission new biomedical equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance and calibration as per manufacturer’s guidelines.
• Attend and resolve equipment breakdowns promptly.
• Maintain uptime of critical equipment (ICU, OT, Dialysis, Emergency).
• Safety & ComplianceEnsure biomedical equipment complies with NABH and statutory requirements.
• Maintain equipment manuals, service records, and calibration certificates.
• Conduct safety checks (electrical, leakage, grounding).
• Support internal and external audits (NABH, insurance, government).
• Documentation & RecordsMaintain equipment inventory and asset register.
• Keep service reports, AMC/CMC records, and breakdown logs.
• Update preventive maintenance schedules.
• Assist QA team in biomedical-related SOPs and audits.
• Vendor & AMC ManagementCoordinate with vendors for service, AMC, and warranty claims.
• Evaluate quotations for purchase or repair of equipment.
• Monitor vendor performance and service quality.
• User Training & SupportTrain clinical staff on proper usage and basic troubleshooting of equipment.
• Prepare user manuals and safety guidelines.
• Provide on-call support during emergencies or critical procedures.
• Regulatory & Quality SupportAssist in equipment validation and acceptance testing.
• Participate in incident investigations related to equipment failure.
• Support quality improvement initiatives.

• QualificationB.E. / B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering
• OR
• Diploma in Biomedical Engineering with relevant hospital experience
• Experience1–3 years in hospital biomedical department (Freshers may be considered for technician role)
