Machine Operator / Helper

A Machine Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of production machinery to ensure efficient manufacturing processes. This role is vital in industries like manufacturing, construction, and food processing, where precision and safety are paramount. 

Core Responsibilities

• Machine Setup & Operation: Prepare machines for production cycles by installing and adjusting parts, calibrating settings, and monitoring functions like speed and flow.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect finished products for defects, conduct regular quality checks, and ensure output meets design specifications using tools like vernier calipers and micrometers.
• Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Perform routine maintenance (oiling, cleaning) and troubleshoot minor mechanical issues to minimize downtime.
• Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety protocols and health regulations, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like earplugs and safety glasses.
• Record Keeping: Maintain detailed logs of production data, defective units, and maintenance activities. 

Key Qualifications & Skills

• Education: High school diploma or GED is typically required; technical certificates or vocational training (e.g., ITI, mechanical certification) are highly preferred.
• Mechanical Aptitude: Strong understanding of how machines function and ability to read blueprints and technical manuals.
• Physical Stamina: Capability to stand for long shifts (often 8+ hours), lift heavy items (up to 23–25 kg), and perform repetitive tasks.
• Analytical Skills: Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (rate, ratio, percentage) and solve practical production problems.
• Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of specific systems like CNC (Computer Numerical Control), PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers), or software like Mastercam depending on the industry. 

Work Environment

• Setting: Usually fast-paced manufacturing plants or factories that can be loud and subject to temperature variations.
• Schedule: Often involves shift work, including nights, weekends, and holiday's.
