Pattern Maker

A foundry pattern maker creates, repairs, and modifies precise, durable patterns used to create molds for casting metal components.

Key Responsibilities

• Blueprint Interpretation: Read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings and specifications to understand casting requirements.
• Pattern Construction: Design and build patterns, core boxes, and match plates using Casting Iron
• Precision Machining: Operate machines such as saws, planes, drill presses, lathes, and grinders to shape, cut, and finish materials to exact tolerances.
• Drafting/Shrinkage Allowances: Calculate and incorporate shrinkage allowances into patterns to account for metal cooling and contraction.
• Assembly and Inspection: Assemble pattern components using screws, dowels, or nails, and verify dimensions using measuring tools like calipers, micrometers, and scribers.
• Maintenance: Repair and rework worn or damaged patterns and tools.
• Collaboration: Work with engineering and design teams to refine designs for better manufacturability. hey need to be able to understand what the designer wants, and translate that into the lines of a pattern.
