Job Title: Turner / Lathe Machine Operator

Job Summary

The Turner is responsible for operating lathe machines to manufacture precision metal components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

• Key Responsibilities
• Operate conventional and/or CNC lathe machines to produce components as per drawings
• Set up machines, including mounting tools, workpieces, and fixtures
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions
• Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds
• Perform turning, facing, threading, boring, and drilling operations
• Measure and inspect finished components using measuring instruments (vernier, micrometer, gauges)
• Ensure products meet quality standards and tolerances
• Perform routine machine maintenance and keep machines clean
• Identify and report machine faults or deviations
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment
• Required Skills & Qualifications:
• ITI / Diploma in Machinist, Turner, or related trade
• Proven experience as a Turner or Lathe Operator
• Knowledge of conventional and/or CNC lathe operations
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
• Familiarity with precision measuring tools
• Basic knowledge of materials (steel, aluminum, alloys, etc.)
• Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
• Experience1–5 years of relevant experience (can be adjusted as needed)
• Working Conditions:
• Workshop / manufacturing environment
• May involve standing for long periods and handling heavy components
• Preferred Skills (Optional)Experience with CNC programming
• Knowledge of ISO quality standards
• Basic understanding of tool setting and offsets
