Job Summary

A VMC Programmer/Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating Vertical Machining Centers to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications. The role requires strong knowledge of CNC programming, tooling, and quality control standards.

• 🛠 Key Responsibilities

• Create and modify CNC programs using G-code and M-code.
• Set up VMC machines including fixtures, tools, and work offsets.
• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
• Select appropriate cutting tools and parameters (speed, feed, depth of cut).
• Perform trial runs and make necessary program adjustments.
• Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and efficiency.
• Inspect finished parts using measuring instruments (vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, etc.).
• Maintain production records and documentation.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Follow safety and quality standards at all times.

• 📐 Required Skills & Qualifications

• Diploma/ITI in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience operating CNC/VMC machines.
• Knowledge of CNC programming software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidCAM, Fusion 360).
• Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Familiarity with different materials (steel, aluminum, brass, etc.).
• Basic knowledge of machine maintenance.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• ⚙️ Preferred Experience
• 2–5 years of experience in VMC programming and operation.
• Experience with 3-axis / 4-axis machining.
• Knowledge of tooling systems and fixture design.

• Manufacturing/production facility.
• Standing for long periods.
• Handling heavy materials and tools.
• Working in shifts (if required).
