Job SummaryThe Welder/Fitter is responsible for fabricating, fitting, and welding metal components, structures, and equipment according to technical drawings and specifications. The role includes assembling parts, operating welding machines, ensuring quality welding joints, and maintaining safety standards in the fabrication area.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. Read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication drawings before starting work.
2. Measure, cut, align, and fit metal parts according to specifications.
3. Perform welding activities such as MIG, TIG, or ARC welding as required for fabrication work.
4. Assemble metal structures, pipelines, frames, and equipment components.
5. Use tools like grinder, drilling machine, cutting torch, and measuring instruments.
6. Check welding quality and ensure joints meet required standards.
7. Perform grinding, finishing, and cleaning of welded joints after welding.
8. Follow safety guidelines, PPE requirements, and company safety policies.
9. Maintain welding machines, tools, and work area in good condition.
10. Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and fabrication team to complete work on time.
11. Report any defects or technical issues during fabrication to the supervisor.
12. Ensure proper handling of raw materials and fabricated components.

These duties typically include preparing parts for welding, positioning and aligning components, and inspecting welded joints to ensure quality.

• Ability to read fabrication drawings
• Knowledge of metal fabrication and structural fitting
• Ability to use measuring instruments (vernier, measuring tape, gauge)
• Understanding of industrial safety practices
• Basic knowledge of fabrication tools and equipment
• QualificationITI / Diploma in Fitter, Welder, Fabricator, or Mechanical trade
• Welding certification preferred
• Experience1 – 5 years experience in welding / fabrication / industrial manufacturing
