Accountant

The responsibilities of an accountant are broad and often involve both historical record-keeping and forward-looking analysis:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (e.g., Balance Sheets, Income Statements, Cash Flow Statements) in compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) or IFRS.
• General Ledger & Bookkeeping: Manage the general ledger, process journal entries, perform account reconciliations (bank accounts, credit cards, vendor statements, etc.), and ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded.
• Tax Compliance: Compute and prepare federal, state, and local tax returns and reports, ensuring timely payment and compliance with all tax laws.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, and conduct variance analysis to compare actual results with planned results.
• Auditing and Controls: Coordinate and support internal and external audits. Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal financial controls and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure data integrity.
• Accounts Management: Oversee functions like Accounts Payable (A/P), Accounts Receivable (A/R), and often payroll processing.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data, identify trends, costs, and revenues, and provide strategic recommendations to management for cost reduction, revenue enhancement, and profit improvement.
