Barista Duties & Responsibilities

Drink Preparation

Prepare and serve coffee and tea beverages (espresso drinks, brewed coffee, cold brew, lattes, cappuccinos, specialty drinks).

Operate espresso machines, grinders, brewers, and other café equipment.

Steam milk to proper texture and temperature.

Follow recipes consistently and maintain drink quality.

Food Handling

Prepare and serve pastries, sandwiches, or other light food (if applicable).

Follow food safety and hygiene standards.

Restock food displays and maintain freshness.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and café areas.

Wash dishes, tools, and utensils.

Perform routine maintenance on machines (backflushing espresso machines, checking grinder calibration).

Inventory & Operations

Restock coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, lids, and other supplies.

Monitor inventory and report shortages.

Handle cash registers, process payments, and follow cash-handling procedures.

Assist with opening and closing duties.

Bartender Duties & Responsibilities

Customer Interaction

Welcome guests, take drink orders, and provide knowledgeable recommendations.

Engage customers with friendly conversation and maintain a professional demeanor.

Ensure responsible alcohol service by following ID-check and intoxication guidelines.

Drink Preparation

Mix and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and nonalcoholic beverages according to recipes and standards.

Create garnishes and maintain a clean, organized bar setup.

Operate bar tools and equipment (shakers, strainers, taps, blenders, POS system).

Bar Maintenance & Cleanliness

Clean bar surfaces, glassware, tools, and equipment throughout the shift.

Maintain proper sanitation and safety standards.

Ensure bar is stocked with liquor, mixers, ice, glassware, garnishes, and supplies.

Inventory & Stock Control

Track inventory and notify management of low stock.

Rotate stock to maintain freshness and reduce waste.

Receive deliveries and restock appropriately.

Operational Duties

Handle cash and electronic payments accurately.

Follow opening and closing procedures (counting tills, restocking, cleaning).

Create or suggest new cocktails when appropriate.

Safety & Compliance

Check IDs and monitor guest alcohol consumption.

Follow local laws and company policies related to alcohol service.
