Job Description
Business Head - Vietnam
•
Business Strategy & Growth: Define and execute the strategy for Vietnam, aligned with corporate objectives and market dynamics.
•
Identify opportunities for capacity expansion, fuel diversification, and efficiency improvement.
•
Identify and evaluate greenfield project opportunities aligned with corporate objectives and Vietnam’s energy roadmap.
•
Build business cases and secure internal approvals for investment.
•
Drive capital planning and financial structuring to ensure project viability.
•
P&L Ownership: Deliver financial performance targets including EBITDA, ROCE, and cash flow. Ensure disciplined capital allocation and cost competitiveness.
•
Annual Operating Plan & Budgeting: Lead preparation of AOP and capital budgets; prioritize investments for modernization, reliability, and compliance.
•
Commercial Management: Negotiate the PPAs, tariff negotiations, dispatch optimization, and settlement accuracy with EVN and system operators.
•
Implement automation solutions to support overall organisational goals / strategy.
Lead end-to-end project origination: site identification, feasibility studies, and securing land.
•
Negotiate and finalize Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), fuel supply contracts, and EPC frameworks.
•
Implement digitalization, automation solutions, advanced analytics, and predictive maintenance to enhance cost efficiency and reliability, in alignment with the Group’s vision.
•
Ensure bankability of projects through robust risk assessment and structuring.
Negotiate directly PPAs, tariff structures, dispatch and settlement, and commercial performance with EVN/System Operator; ensure optimal scheduling and balancing.
•
Evaluate market opportunities (Green field, brownfield acquisitions, BOT/IPPs, repowering, fuel switching, co-firing) and lead business cases and investment approvals.
•
Monitor fuel price trends and market dynamics; hedge/structure supply contracts to reduce volatility and ensure cost competitiveness.
Build and mentor high-performing teams; succession planning for critical roles (operations, maintenance, commercial, HSE).
•
Embed performance discipline, cross-functional collaboration, and a continuous improvement mindset.
•
Ensure compliance with labor laws and promote local talent development.
•
Participate in skill development programs (technical and behavioural).
•
Support knowledge transfer and mentoring within the team.
•
Actively engage in organizational change initiatives (e.g., digitalization, lean practices).
•
Assemble a project development team for engineering, procurement, and regulatory functions.
•
Recruit key leadership for construction and operations readiness.
•
Foster a culture of performance, compliance, and safety from project inception.
•
Promote local talent development and ensure adherence to labor laws.
Analyzing deviations between actual vs. budgeted performance helps identify inefficiencies and risks early.
•
Preventing financial leakages and ensuring investments align with site strategy. Obtain all statutory approvals and permits (generation license, environmental clearance, grid code compliance).
•
Engage with EVN, MOIT, and provincial authorities to secure tariff approvals and regulatory support.
•
Represent the company in policy discussions and industry forums to influence favourable outcomes.
•
Managing internal and external auditors at the site level, making "audit readiness" a daily operational requirement.
•
Identifying the financial risks that could impact the plant's generation capacity or profitability.
•
Ensuring all site financial activities follow the Delegation of Authority (DoA), preventing unauthorized expenditures or regulatory breaches
Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, lenders, investors, and fuel suppliers.
•
Secure financing through banks, DFIs, and strategic investors; manage lender due diligence and documentation.
•
Drive contract negotiations for EPC, O&M, and LTSA agreements ensuring cost competitiveness and risk mitigation.
•
Present decision-ready insights during SRMs, Investment Committees, and leadership reviews; communicate risks/opportunities and corrective actions.
•
Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical/Electrical/Chemical Engineering.
•
MBA/PGDM (Finance/Strategy preferred).
