Job Description: Access Control & Low Voltage Technician

Role SummaryHands-on technician responsible for installing and commissioning access control devices, door interlock systems, EM locks, and related low-voltage infrastructure. The role includes cable laying, piping/conduit work, terminations, testing, documentation, and on-site reporting. Work may involve heights and outstation travel.

• Key ResponsibilitiesInstall and commission access control systems, door interlock systems, EM locks/strike plates, readers, controllers, power supplies, and exit devices.
• Conduct cable laying (CAT6/RS-485/power), conduit/piping, dressing, labeling, and panel wiring/terminations.
• Perform cabling & connections, crimping, insulation, continuity checks, and device configuration.
• Mount hardware using drill machines and hand tools with safe practices.
• Integrate devices with existing systems; basic network setup (IP addressing, PoE switches).
• Execute testing, troubleshooting, and handover with site sign-offs.
• Prepare daily reports, material logs, and photo documentation on a basic computer (MS Excel/Word).
• Coordinate with site engineers, clients, and vendors; support team work and timelines.
• Follow EHS/safety procedures, especially for work at height and electrical safety.
• Provide post-installation support and minor preventive maintenance.
• Must-Have Requirements1–3 years’ experience in access control/low-voltage/electronic security installations (freshers with strong hands-on skills may be considered).
• Practical skills in EM lock fitting, door interlock wiring, cabling & terminations, and use of drill machine and hand tools.
• Comfortable with work at height (ladders/scaffolding) and physical site work.
• Two-wheeler vehicle with valid driving license; willing to travel outside city as required.
• Basic computer knowledge: email, Excel/Word, and simple reporting.
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and follow SOPs.
• Good communication, discipline, and team collaboration.
• Good to Have (Preferred)Knowledge of IP cameras, attendance devices, intercom, fire alarm interface.
• Basic networking: switches/PoE, crimping RJ-45, testing with LAN tester.
• Understanding of 12/24V DC power, relays, NO/NC contacts, and fail-safe/fail-secure logic.
• Safety certifications (Work at Height, Electrical Safety) or ITI/Diploma (Electrical/Electronics).
• EducationITI / Diploma in Electrical, Electronics, or related field preferred. 12th pass with strong field experience can apply.
• KPIs (What Success Looks Like)On-time installation & commissioning with zero rework.
• Proper labeling, documentation, and neat cable management.
• Low defect/complaint rate in the first 30 days after handover.
• Compliance with safety procedures and PPE usage.
