Lead - Digital & GIS

• Lead the design, development, and deployment of comprehensive Digital and GIS strategies tailored to mining projects.  

• Oversee the collection, integration, and analysis of spatial and non-spatial mining data to support resource estimation, mine planning, and environmental impact assessments.  

• Drive digital transformation initiatives by leveraging emerging technologies such as IoT, remote sensing, drone imagery, cloud computing, and AI/ML to optimize mining operations and asset management. 

• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including geologists, engineers, IT specialists, and project managers to develop innovative GIS solutions that improve operational efficiency and reduce environmental impact.  

• Mentor, guide, and develop a high-performing team of GIS specialists and digital experts, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and excellence.  

• Establish and maintain best practices, standards, and protocols for GIS data management, ensuring data accuracy, security, and compliance with regulatory requirements.  

• Manage stakeholder relationships by effectively communicating project progress, technological advancements, and business value to internal leadership and external clients.  

• Ensure integration of digital and GIS platforms with existing enterprise systems for seamless data flow and operational synergy.  

• Lead feasibility studies, pilot projects, and proof-of-concept initiatives to evaluate new technologies and their applicability in the mining consultancy context.  

• Drive sustainability initiatives by supporting environmental monitoring, land reclamation planning, and regulatory reporting through advanced GIS applications.  

• Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities to keep MTCS’s digital and GIS capabilities at the forefront of mining innovation.  

• Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations that clearly articulate complex digital and GIS concepts and project outcomes to diverse audiences.  

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geoinformatics, Mining Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline from a reputed institute. 

• Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in Digital and GIS technologies specifically within the Mining industry 

• Expertise in GIS software including ArcGIS, QGIS, ERDAS Imagine, and remote sensing tools. 

•  Proficient in spatial data analysis, mining data integration, and 3D geological modeling. 

•  Strong knowledge of digital technologies such as IoT, cloud computing (AWS, Azure), AI/ML applications in mining.  

• Familiarity with database management systems, programming languages (Python, R, SQL), and data visualization tools.  

• Experience in integrating drone data and satellite imagery into GIS workflows.  

• Skilled in developing and managing GIS data standards, metadata, and geodatabases specific to mining.
