Manager-Firefighting
Responsibilities
The Firefighting Specialist will be entrusted with the following key responsibilities, which require an in-depth understanding of thermal power plant operations, safety standards, and emergency management:
- Fire Safety Strategy Development: Design, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive fire safety and firefighting strategies tailored to thermal power plants. Ensure all plans align with industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and Adani’s safety policies.
- Risk Assessment & Hazard Analysis: Conduct detailed fire risk assessments across all plant areas, identifying potential fire hazards and vulnerabilities. Develop mitigation measures and corrective action plans to minimize fire risk.
- Firefighting Infrastructure Management: Oversee installation, maintenance, and testing of firefighting systems including hydrants, sprinklers, fire extinguishers, foam systems, and detection alarms. Coordinate with engineering teams to upgrade systems as needed.
- Emergency Preparedness & Response: Lead emergency response planning, including preparation of evacuation procedures and firefighting drills. Train and mentor firefighting teams and plant personnel to ensure high readiness and effective incident management.
- Incident Investigation & Reporting: Investigate all fire-related incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures. Prepare detailed reports and share learnings with stakeholders to enhance overall plant safety.
- Compliance & Audits: Ensure strict compliance with national and international fire safety standards, such as NFPA, IS codes, and local regulations. Coordinate regular fire safety audits and inspections, addressing any gaps promptly.
- Training & Capacity Building: Develop and deliver comprehensive training modules for all levels of staff on fire prevention, firefighting techniques, equipment usage, and emergency protocols. Promote a culture of safety awareness throughout the organization.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with plant management, operations, maintenance, safety departments, and external agencies to foster a collaborative approach towards fire safety management. Serve as a key advisor on firefighting and fire prevention matters.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement cutting-edge firefighting technologies and methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Encourage innovation in fire safety processes consistent with Adani’s value of continuous improvement.
- Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Leadership: Champion HSE initiatives with a focus on fire safety, embedding these principles into everyday operations and decision-making processes.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Fire Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.
