MEP Designer

MEP Designer- Key Responsibility:

As a Design Engineer – MEP, you will be responsible for the design, coordination, and technical delivery of MEP systems across various building and infrastructure projects. Your role will involve creating efficient, code-compliant, and cost-effective designs, ensuring smooth coordination across disciplines and alignment with project specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Design Development:

§ Prepare detailed MEP system designs including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire fighting, drainage, and water supply systems.

§ Use design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, Dialux, ETAP) to create layouts, schematics, and single-line diagrams.

Technical Documentation:

§ Generate technical drawings, design calculations, material specifications, and BOQs.

§ Prepare and submit design reports and documentation for approval.

Standards & Code Compliance:

§ Ensure designs meet local authority regulations and international codes (e.g., ASHRAE, DEWA, NFPA, IPC, NEC).

§ Incorporate sustainability and energy-efficiency standards (e.g., LEED, ESTIDAMA, GSAS) where applicable.

Coordination & Integration:

§ Coordinate MEP designs with architectural, structural, and ELV disciplines.

§ Resolve design conflicts and ensure seamless integration of systems in BIM environments.

Project & Client Interface:

§ Attend project meetings and liaise with consultants, contractors, and clients to discuss design requirements and changes.

§ Assist in securing design approvals from regulatory authorities and stakeholders.

Site Support & Technical Assistance:

§ Conduct site visits for surveys, design verification, and progress reviews.

§ Provide support to site teams during installation, testing, and commissioning phases.

Value Engineering & Optimization:

§ Recommend design alternatives to reduce cost without compromising quality or performance.

§ Implement efficient system solutions tailored to specific project conditions.

Documentation & Close-out:

§ Support the preparation of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and close-out documentation.

§ Maintain organized records of all design iterations and approvals.

Continuous Learning & Innovation:

§ Stay updated with the latest technologies, tools, and industry trends in MEP engineering.

§ Contribute to internal design standards and best practices.
