Phlebotomist

Job Responsibilities:

1.    Responsible for understanding of test request and resolving issue if any arise related to test request.

2.    Responsible for proper communication regarding patient preparation as per need of test as described in primary sample manual.

3.    Responsible for taking up most care to avoid pre-analytical error during sample collection as described in primary sample collection manual.

4.    Responsible for correct identification of patient as described in Phlebotomy Procedures.

5.    Responsible for following phlebotomy procedure properly during sample collection.

6.    Responsible for proper and effective communication related to phlebotomy procedure to Patient.

7.    Responsible for selecting appropriate site and appropriate method for blood collection as per test need and patient condition.

8.    Responsible for transporting sample writhing reasonable time as per test need.

9.    Responsible for correct identification of sample before delivering to section.

10. Responsible for providing information needed in relation to method, site and difficulties during collection to technical staff.

11. Documentation regarding receiving time of request, collection time, delivering time of sample to section should be maintained. Also record of sample rejection with cause for it should be maintained.

12. Transporting samples after preparation to reception from sections for the purpose of outsourcing.

13. Responsible for collecting samples from Patient’s home, Referring Laboratory, and arrangement of sending samples and related records to reference laboratory for out source of testing.

14. Responsible for collecting charges from patient incase of home visits and from referring lab in case of lab to lab work.

15. Responsible for quality assurance in phlebotomy department.

16. Responsible for healthy and professional environment in section.

17. Responsible for executing recollection order when instructed from sections in reasonable time.
