Quality Control Engineer

Key Roles & Responsibilities

1. Raw Material InspectionInspect incoming materials such as wood, plywood, laminates, veneers, hardware, fittings, foam, fabric, and metal components.

• Verify moisture content, thickness, dimensions, and material quality before production.
• Approve or reject incoming materials based on company standards.

2. In-Process Quality InspectionConduct regular inspections during production processes such as:

• Wood cutting & CNC machining
• Edge banding
• Assembly
• Sanding and polishing
• Upholstery and finishing
• Ensure production follows approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

3. Final Product InspectionInspect finished furniture items for:

• Dimensional accuracy
• Structural strength and stability
• Surface finish and polish quality
• Alignment and fitting of hardware
• Packaging quality before dispatch

Furniture quality controllers ensure products meet technical and aesthetic requirements and intervene throughout production to maintain standards.

4. Documentation & ReportingMaintain inspection reports, rejection reports, and quality records.

• Prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) for defective products.
• Maintain quality checklists and inspection logs.

5. Root Cause AnalysisInvestigate recurring defects in furniture manufacturing.

• Perform root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, and FMEA.
• Suggest corrective and preventive actions to production teams.

6. Process ImprovementWork with production and design teams to improve manufacturing processes.

• Develop and update quality inspection procedures and standards.
• Reduce product defects and rework through process improvements.

7. Supplier & Vendor Quality MonitoringMonitor supplier quality performance for raw materials and components.

• Coordinate with vendors to resolve material quality issues.
