Safety Officer

Role Summary:

The Safety Officer is responsible for implementing and monitoring all health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards at project sites to ensure zero accidents, safe work practices, and full compliance with statutory and client safety requirements.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Site Safety Implementation

· Ensure implementation of company safety policies at all project sites.

· Conduct daily site safety inspections.

· Enforce use of PPE (helmet, safety shoes, harness, gloves, etc.).

· Monitor high-risk activities such as:

o Working at height

o Electrical works

o Cutting & welding

o Glass installation

o Ceiling and partition installation

2. Compliance & Documentation

· Ensure compliance with local statutory safety regulations.

· Maintain safety records including:

o Toolbox talk records

o Safety induction register

o Incident/accident reports

o Work permit records

· Coordinate with client safety teams and attend safety meetings.

· Prepare monthly safety performance reports for management.

3. Risk Assessment & Work Permits

· Conduct Risk Assessment before starting new activities.

· Prepare Job Safety Analysis (JSA).

· Issue and monitor Work Permits:

o Hot work permit

o Height work permit

o Electrical work permit

· Identify hazards and implement corrective actions.

4. Training & Awareness

· Conduct site safety induction for new workers.

· Arrange regular Toolbox Talks.

· Train workers on safe handling of tools, materials, and machinery.

· Create awareness on fire safety and emergency response.

5. Emergency Management

· Ensure availability of fire extinguishers and first aid kits.

· Conduct mock drills.

· Coordinate in case of accidents or emergencies.

· Ensure proper reporting and investigation of incidents.

6. Contractor & Vendor Safety

· Ensure subcontractors follow safety norms.

· Monitor housekeeping standards at site.

· Check scaffolding, ladders, and lifting tools before use.

· Ensure no unsafe work is carried out at site.

7. Safety Improvement

· Work towards Zero Accident policy.

· Reduce site snags due to unsafe practices.

· Improve safety rating with clients.

· Suggest improvements in safety procedures.

Key Skills Required:

· Knowledge of fit-out activities (Partition, Ceiling, MEP, Modular furniture, Glass, etc.)

· Understanding of statutory safety norms.

· Strong observation and reporting skills.

· Ability to handle emergency situations.

· Good coordination with site team and client.

Qualification:

· Diploma / Degree in Safety Management

Good ’ experience in Interior Fit-Out / Construction industry
