Job Description

The Sales Engineer is responsible for driving revenue growth by building relationships with panel builders, EPC contractors, Machine manufacturers and end-users. The goal is to ensure the company's switchgear and VFD products are specified in project tenders and included in the Bill of Materials (BOM) of the panel builders. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with panel builders, EPCs, and electrical consultants to influence design specifications and secure approved vendor list (AVL) status.
  • Technical Sales & Support: Conduct technical presentations, product demos, and training on switchgear and VFD applications to educate customers on product advantages.
  • Proposal & Quote Management: Analyze customer requirements and project specifications to prepare accurate, competitive technical and commercial proposals.
  • Target Achievement: Execute sales strategies to meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for switchgear and drive products.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and pricing strategies to adjust sales tactics.
  • Pre- and Post-Sales Support: Collaborate with internal engineering/production teams to ensure customer requirements are met and provide technical support during installation or troubleshooting.
  • CRM & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, visit reports, and lead pipelines in CRM tools. 

Required Qualifications

  • Education: B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience: 3–10 years of proven experience in industrial sales, specifically dealing with LV switchgear, motor starters, and VFDs.
  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of LT panels, Power Control Centers (PCC), Motor Control Centers (MCC), APFC panels, and VFD applications.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong network within the panel builder community and understanding of panel fabrication processes.
  • Skills: Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and CRM software. 

Core Competencies

  • Technical Troubleshooting: Ability to diagnose issues with drives and switchgear.
  • Solution Selling: Moving beyond price-based selling to offering value-added technical solutions.
  • Proactive Prospecting: Identifying new panel builder accounts and converting competitor accounts.
