Job Description:

Involves planning and overseeing construction projects like buildings, roads, ensuring they are safe, on-time, and on-budget. Responsibilities include conducting site investigations, preparing technical documents, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring projects comply with regulations and safety standards. This often requires collaborating with architects, contractors and other stakeholders.  

Key responsibilities:

Planning and design: Create project designs using architectural drawings and models, conduct feasibility studies, and prepare technical specifications, plans, and schedules. 

Project management: Oversee construction activities, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards. 

Site and data analysis: Conduct site investigations and perform or oversee surveying to establish building locations and site layouts.

Collaboration: Work with other engineers, architects, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project goals are met. 

Required skills:

Sound mathematical, scientific skills

Proficiency with design and project management software, such as CAD

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management abilities

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to pay attention to detail and maintain an overview of complex projects
