Job Purpose: This role is responsible for validating and overseeing the work of team members by managing billing processes and ensuring the accuracy of financial and operational data. This role also contributes to strategic decision-making with added responsibilities in compliance and stakeholder engagement.
Team Lead - Commercial (ERCG)
Billing and Compliance:
Oversee the monthly/periodic billing for long term and medium term Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), ensuring accuracy and adherence to contractual terms.
Prepare and submit Late Payment Surcharge bills whenever there is delay in payments by the customers within the due date, enforcing contractual penalties.
Ensure the initiation of billing procedures once disputes are resolved, maintaining accuracy and compliance.
In the event of scheduled generation less than 85%, preparation of claims for the partial load compensation towards degradation of operational parameters under PPAs, if applicable.
Ensure strict compliance with PPA provisions and ensure the realization of revenue from power sales.
Data Management and Stakeholder Coordination:
Assist in arranging necessary data for billing processes and communicate with relevant stakeholders to obtain required information.
Review and draft official correspondence, forwarding it to higher management for approval.
Validate and verify MIS reconciliation and forward the data to the finance team and other relevant teams.
Address and settle queries related to data received by internal teams, ensuring clarity and resolution of any issues.
Timely validate and approve of data and reconciliation statements.
Maintain MIS data, cross-validating it with the information prepared by the lead to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Generate and maintain MIS reports, including statements of dues and not dues.
Regularly interact with the regulatory team for updates and compliance checks.
Review MIS reports prepared by the Lead detailing expected revenue, expenses for each customer, due bills, and collection targets, comparing actual receipts against targets.
Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Analysis and Strategy Development:
Analyze the Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and collaborate with the management to support in determining strategic approaches for billing and compliance.
Make decisions on the appropriate approach and strategy to adopt for various commercial scenarios.
Conduct due diligence for upcoming projects from a commercial standpoint and communicate the findings to the Business Development (BD) team.
Regulatory Support and Legal Coordination:
Provide inputs on petitions filed by the regulatory team and ensure all details are accurately captured.
Participate in briefings with legal counsel to discuss case strategies and ensure representation.
In cases of new change in law events, if customers do not agree, support the claim process leading to the regulatory team filing a petition for its approval and raising the supplementary bills.
Operational Support :
Resolve issues with power procurers and coordinate with the team to provide support for billing operations.
Ensure verification of all bills by the commercial controller team and finance team, ensuring accountability and financial integrity.

Foster a constructive team environment, managing team performance, and driving initiatives for continuous development and departmental excellence.
Ensure that all team members are aligned with the business strategy, promoting a culture of innovation and response to regulatory changes.

Educational Qualification:
Bachelor’s Degree (Business Administration, Finance, related field)
Work Experience (Range of years):
Minimum 10 years of commercial operations experience in billing and reconciliation, with a proven record in team leadership.
Preferred Industry:
Background in the power and energy sector, with exposure to commercial and regulatory processes and stakeholder negotiations.
