Specialist Business Process

Responsibilities

1. Process Design, Governance & Field Operations

  • Design, document, implement, and govern end-to-end business processes for AMISP smart metering projects, including:
    • Field surveys
    • Smart meter installations (Consumer, DT, and Feeder meters)
    • Inventory management for new meters and removed/old meters
    • Prepaid and postpaid metering workflows
  • Establish SOPs, process controls, and governance frameworks to ensure standardization and compliance across projects.
  • Align AMISP processes with DISCOM-specific operational practices, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations to enable smooth field execution.
 

 

2. Digital Enablement & System Development

  • Coordinate with System Integrators (SI) to design, develop, and enhance digital solutions for field operations through:
    • Web portals
    • Mobile applications
  • Convert business and operational requirements into functional specifications for IT and SI teams.
  • Support rollout, adoption, stabilization, and continuous improvement of digital platforms supporting survey, installation, QC, inventory, O&M, and reporting processes.
 

3. Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Act as a key coordination point with:
    • DISCOM SPOCs and Project Coordinators
    • Internal Project Teams
    • Digital / IT teams of AESL
    • System Integrators and vendors
  • Understand and consolidate requirements related to process changes, system enhancements, and reporting needs.
  • Ensure seamless alignment between DISCOM expectations and AMISP execution models.
 

4. Quality Control & Compliance

  • Govern and manage Quality Control (QC) processes for smart meter installations through centralized QC teams.
  • Define QC frameworks, validation rules, checklists, and escalation mechanisms.
  • Monitor QC outcomes and drive corrective and preventive actions to improve installation quality and compliance.
 

5. Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Enablement

  • Develop a clear understanding of Operations & Maintenance (O&M) requirements for smart metering projects.
  • Design, implement, and monitor O&M processes including:
    • Complaint handling
    • Meter replacement
    • Preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Ensure O&M processes are digitally enabled, well governed, and performance monitored.
 

6. MIS, Monitoring & Management Reporting

  • Define and manage daily, weekly, and monthly MIS for project and management review.
  • Coordinate with CPO Office, Planning Team, and PMG Team for MIS preparation, progress tracking, and dashboards.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of reports used for monitoring, control, and governance of field operations.
 

7. OPEX Budget Management

  • Prepare, monitor, and control OPEX budgets for AMISP project operations.
  • Track cost drivers, identify optimization opportunities, and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
 

8. Central Invoice Processing & Financial Coordination

  • Manage the Central Invoice Processing Team supporting AMISP projects.
  • Oversee invoice collection, scrutiny, processing, and tracking from vendors and contractors.
  • Coordinate with vendors for invoice clarifications and documentation completeness.
  • Liaise with internal Finance and ABEX teams for invoice validation, booking, approvals, and timely payment processing.
  • Coordinate closely with project teams to ensure alignment between executed work, approved quantities, contractual terms, and submitted invoices.
  • Establish standardized invoice processing workflows, SLAs, controls, and MIS to ensure compliance, transparency, and timely payments.
  • Support audits by ensuring documentation integrity and traceability.
 

9. Process Automation, AI & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process automation opportunities using available digital tools and platforms.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and turnaround time.
  • Explore and evaluate AI/ML use cases in smart metering, such as:
    • Installation quality validation
    • Anomaly and exception detection
    • Productivity and performance monitoring
    • Predictive insights for O&M activities
 

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Experience working with DISCOMs, System Integrators, and large field operations
  • Expertise in process design, governance, and digital transformation
  • Hands-on expertise in  Excell, Power bi, analytical tools, MS Visio
  • Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills
  • Good knowledge of MIS, financial controls, and invoice processing
  • Exposure to automation tools and AI/ML applications (preferred)

Qualifications

B. Tech in Electrical Engineer

MBA in Operation is preferable

Must have3 - 7 years of Experience 

Prior AMISP / Smart Meter / DISCOM project experience will be a strong advantage
