Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping


department, ensuring that all guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are clean, well-

maintained, and meet the hotel’s high standards of cleanliness and presentation. The role involves


supervising housekeeping staff, inspecting rooms and public areas, and ensuring guest satisfaction through

the delivery of exceptional housekeeping services.


• Supervision of Housekeeping Staff:

a. Supervise, train, and support housekeeping attendants, ensuring that they adhere to hotel

standards and procedures.

b. Assign daily tasks and cleaning schedules to housekeeping staff, ensuring efficient use of

resources.

c. Conduct daily briefings to communicate job assignments, special requests, and any changes

in the day’s operations.

• Room and Area Inspections:

a. Inspect guest rooms, corridors, and public areas to ensure they meet the hotel’s cleanliness

and presentation standards.

b. Ensure that rooms are ready for guest check-in by conducting thorough inspections,

addressing any issues, and approving them for occupancy.

c. Monitor the condition of linens, furniture, and fixtures, reporting any maintenance issues to

the appropriate department.

• Inventory and Supplies Management:

a. Monitor and manage housekeeping supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels

and proper usage.

b. Coordinate with the housekeeping manager to place orders for cleaning supplies, linens, and

other necessary items.

c. Ensure that all housekeeping equipment is properly maintained and in good working

condition.


• Guest Service and Satisfaction:

a. Respond promptly to guest requests and complaints related to housekeeping services,

ensuring a quick and satisfactory resolution.

b. Work closely with the front office and other departments to meet guest expectations and

provide a seamless experience.

c. Maintain a strong presence in guest areas to monitor service delivery and interact with

guests.


• Training and Development:

a. Provide ongoing training and coaching to housekeeping staff, ensuring they are

knowledgeable about cleaning techniques, hotel policies, and guest service standards.

b. Conduct regular performance evaluations for housekeeping staff, providing feedback and

addressing any performance issues.

c. Encourage teamwork and a positive work environment within the housekeeping

department.

• Compliance and Safety:

a. Ensure that all housekeeping activities comply with hotel policies, health and safety

regulations, and local laws.

b. Conduct regular safety checks and audits of housekeeping operations, including chemical

handling, equipment use, and fire safety procedures.

c. Promote a culture of safety and cleanliness among the housekeeping team.

• Administrative Duties:

a. Prepare daily housekeeping reports, including room status updates, maintenance requests,

and staff performance.

b. Maintain accurate records of inventory, supplies, and equipment usage.

c. Assist the housekeeping manager with scheduling, payroll, and other administrative tasks as

needed.


This is an individual contributor role. Does not take any decisions but should be ready for quick decision

making whenever required.

Work is closely monitored by the manager, detailed instructions and procedures and guidelines for

generations of various reports are generally provided.

Results are defined and the position sets own goals and determines how to accomplish them.

Supervisor/manager provides broad guidelines and overall direction.
