Job Description

Role of Zonal Sales Manager is responsible for managing and driving sales performance within a specific geographic zone (multiple cities, districts, or states). They act as a bridge between regional leadership and front line sales teams.


Here’s a clear breakdown of the role:


1️⃣ Sales Target Achievement-set sales targets for the zone in alignment with company goals

  • Monitor performance against targets (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Ensure revenue growth and market share expansion
  • Develop action plans if targets are not met


2️⃣ Team Management & Leadership-lead Area Sales Managers (ASMs) / Territory Sales Officers (TSOs)


  • Recruit, train, and mentor sales staff
  • Conduct performance reviews
  • Motivate the team to achieve KPIs

3️⃣ Strategy Implementation Execute regional and national sales strategies within the zone


  • Implement promotional campaigns and product launches
  • Adapt strategies based on local market conditions


4️⃣ Channel & Distributor Management-appoint and manage distributors/dealers

  • Ensure proper stock availability across the zone
  • Monitor distributor profitability and performance
  • Resolve channel conflicts


5️⃣ Market Analysis & Reporting Analyse competitor activities and pricing

  • Identify new business opportunities
  • Submit sales reports to Regional/National Sales Managers
  • Forecast demand and plan inventory


6️⃣ Customer Relationship Management Maintain relationships with key accounts

  • Handle major client negotiations
  • Resolve escalated customer complaints


7️⃣ Budget & Expense Control Manage zonal sales budget

  • Monitor promotional expenses
  • Ensure cost efficiency
