Job Description

Role Objective To lead the end-to-end strategic sourcing and procurement functions for Tool Room requirements (Die/Mold manufacturing) and Press Shop operations (Mass production). This role focuses on cost optimization, technical vendor development, and ensuring 100% material availability to meet production timelines.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Tool Room Procurement (Precision & Capex)
  • Specialized Sourcing: Procure Tool Steels (P20, H13, D2, etc.), standard mold bases, hot runner systems, and high-precision CNC cutting tools.
  • Capex Management: Lead the technical and commercial evaluation for high-value machinery (VMC, EDM, Wire-cut machines, and Hydraulic Presses).
  • Sub-contracting: Manage specialized outsourcing for processes like Heat Treatment, Nitrogen Nitriding, and heavy machining.
  • 2. Press Shop Procurement (Volume & Raw Material)
  • Steel Procurement: Negotiate and source Cold Rolled (CRCA), Hot Rolled (HR), and Galvanized steel coils/sheets.
  • Consumables Management: Manage bulk buying of lubricants, welding gases, and hardware required for high-volume stamping.
  • BOP (Bought-Out Parts): Source components that are integrated into final assemblies (fasteners, springs, etc.).
  • 3. Strategic Vendor Management Identify and audit specialized vendors capable of meeting the tight tolerances required for tooling.
  • Develop a secondary supplier base to mitigate risks in raw material price fluctuations.
  • Conduct annual rate contracts (ARC) for recurring items to lock in pricing.
  • 4. Operational Excellence Inventory
  • Control: Implement Just-In-Time (JIT) or VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) for the Press Shop to minimize working capital.
  • Cost Reduction: Drive "Value Engineering" initiatives to find alternative materials or processes that reduce the "Cost per Stroke."
  • Compliance: Ensure all materials meet ISO/IATF 16949 standards (especially if in the Automotive sector).
