Store Manager

Purpose of the Role: The Store Manager is responsible for end-to-end management of store operations, ensuring accurate receipt, safe storage, effective inventory control, and timely issuance of materials to support uninterrupted production. The role focuses on inventory accuracy, cost control, compliance, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

1. Store Operations & Inventory Management

• Manage receipt, storage, and issue of raw materials, welding consumables (electrodes, flux, wires), MS/SS materials, spares, packing materials, and finished goods.
• Ensure FIFO / FEFO is strictly followed, especially for electrodes and flux.
• Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
• Monitor shelf life, moisture control, and storage conditions for welding consumables.
• Ensure proper stacking, labeling, and identification of materials.

2. Inward & Outward Material Control

• Verify inward materials against PO, Challan, and GRN.
• Coordinate with QC for inward inspection and material acceptance.
• Ensure timely issue of materials to production as per Material Requisition Slip (MRS).
• Control scrap, rejections, and returns to vendors.

3. ERP / Documentation & Records

• Ensure accurate entry of all store transactions in ERP/Tally/NetSuite.
• Maintain records of GRN, Issue slips, Stock registers, Scrap register, Rejection and return materials
• Support physical stock verification and cycle counts.

4. Material Issue & Production Support

• Ensure timely issuance of materials to production as per BOM, indents, or system requirements.
• Prevent production stoppages due to material shortages.
• Coordinate closely with Production Planning & Control (PPC) team.
• Ensure proper documentation for material issue, returns, and rejections.

5. Coordination & Planning

• Coordinate with Purchase, Production, Quality, and Accounts departments.
• Share stock status, slow-moving items, and critical shortages with management.
• Support purchase planning by providing consumption data and stock reports.

6. Cost Control & Optimization

• Maintain optimum inventory levels to reduce carrying costs.
• Avoid excess procurement and duplication of items.
• Support cost reduction initiatives through better inventory planning and vendor coordination.
• Assist finance/accounts team during inventory valuation and closing activities.

7. Team Management & Leadership

• Lead, guide, and supervise store staff (Storekeepers, Assistants, Helpers).
• Allocate duties and ensure discipline, productivity, and accountability.
• Conduct on-the-job training on Store procedures, ERP usage, Safety and housekeeping

8. Safety, Housekeeping & 5S

• Ensure safe handling and storage of materials, including hazardous items.
• Maintain 5S standards in stores area.
• Ensure compliance with safety norms, PPE usage, and fire safety requirements.
• Prevent material damage, pilferage, and mishandling.

Qualification & Experience

• Qualification: Graduate / Diploma (Any discipline – Materials / Logistics preferred)
• Experience: 10+ years in Store / Inventory Management
• Industry Preference: Manufacturing / Automotive / Engineering
