CAD Drafter / CAD Design Engineer

Role Overview:

The CAD Drafter will support the Engineering and New Product Development teams by creating accurate technical drawings, converting design concepts into production-ready CAD models, and maintaining organized technical documentation. The role requires close coordination with engineers, designers, and production teams to ensure drawings are accurate, manufacturable, and updated as products evolve.

Key Responsibilities:

1. CAD Drafting for New Product Development

• Create 2D and 3D CAD drawings for new products based on engineering inputs.
• Convert engineering concepts, sketches, and discussions into detailed technical drawings.
• Ensure drawings meet manufacturing feasibility and engineering standards.
• Revise drawings quickly based on feedback from engineering and production teams.

2. Design SupportAssist engineers in developing product designs by drafting CAD models and layouts.

• Support prototype development by preparing drawings for tooling and manufacturing.
• Create assembly drawings, part drawings, and exploded views where required.
• Ensure correct dimensioning, tolerances, and technical specifications are included.

3. Technical Documentation & Drawing ControlMaintain organized records of all CAD drawings and revisions.

• Implement and follow drawing version control practices.
• Update drawings based on design changes or production feedback.
• Ensure documentation is accessible and properly stored within the company’s documentation systems (ERP/PLM).

4. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with design engineers, production teams, and quality teams.
• Assist production teams with drawing clarification when required.
• Support development projects by ensuring timely completion of drafting tasks.

Education Qualifications:

• Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field, or
• Certified from any CAD coaching institute

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks / AutoCAD / Fusion 360 / similar).
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and dimensioning standards.
• Ability to interpret engineering sketches and convert them into detailed CAD drawings.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production drawings is preferred.

Experience:

• 1–3 years experience in CAD drafting, preferably in manufacturing or product development environments.
• Freshers with strong CAD skills may also be considered.
