Business Analyst

Role Description

A Business Analyst (BA) bridges the gap between design excellence and business profitability. Their Key Result Areas (KRAs) focus on optimizing project lifecycles, ensuring resource efficiency, and aligning technical design capabilities with market demand. 

1. Project Profitability & Financial Analysis 

• Revenue Optimization: Monitor project budgets against actual spend to identify cost overruns early in the design or construction phases.
• Billing Efficiency: Analyze "billable vs. non-billable" hours across design teams to improve utilization rates and firm profitability.
• Cost-Benefit Analysis: Develop business cases for adopting new architectural technologies (e.g., advanced BIM software or AI-driven generative design tools). 

2. Process Optimization & Workflow Efficiency

• Design Workflow Analysis: Document and refine internal processes for project handovers between architects, engineers, and contractors to reduce rework.
• Resource Planning: Implement data-driven models to predict staffing needs based on the project pipeline, ensuring no "bench time" or over-allocation of senior architects.
• Standardization: Create standardized templates for requirement gathering and client briefs to ensure design teams have clear, actionable data from day one. 

3. Stakeholder Management & Requirements Elicitation

• Client Requirement Mapping: Translate complex client visions into functional technical requirements that architects can execute without ambiguity.
• Vendor & Contractor Coordination: Act as a liaison between the firm and external vendors to ensure third-party deliverables meet project specs and timelines.
• Internal Alignment: Facilitate meetings between design leads and the business development team to ensure proposed designs are feasible within the client's budget. 

4. Strategic Growth & Market Analysis

• Market Intelligence: Identify emerging trends in sustainable architecture or smart building tech and present data-backed recommendations for firm expansion into these niches.
• Performance Metrics (KPIs): Develop and monitor dashboards that track project success metrics, such as "on-time delivery" and "client satisfaction scores". 

5. Digital Transformation & Data Governance

• BIM Data Integration: Ensure that data generated in Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools is leveraged for business insights, such as material cost forecasting.

·                    Systems Implementation: Oversee the rollout of Project Management Information Systems (PMIS) or CRM tools specifically tailored for architectural practices, requirements gathering, process analysis, and solutions analysis and Interview stake holders to identify business requirements.
