Capitalnine Services Private Limited is a trusted Corporate Direct Sales Associate (DSA) partnering with leading Banks and NBFCs across India.

A Business Development Manager (BDM) is a key strategic role focused on growing a company's revenue and market share by identifying new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and forging strategic partnerships. Unlike a traditional sales executive focused solely on closing deals, a BDM works on the front end of the sales process to build a strong pipeline for long-term growth. 

Responsibilities

A BDM's duties are broad and vary based on the company and industry. Common responsibilities include: 

  • Identify new opportunities: Research market trends, competitor activities, and emerging markets to find new avenues for growth.
  • Lead generation: Generate new business leads through various channels, including cold outreach, networking, and digital marketing collaboration.
  • Relationship management: Build and nurture long-term relationships with both potential and existing clients to foster loyalty and repeat business.
  • Create proposals and presentations: Develop customized business proposals and pitch decks that showcase how the company's offerings can add value for a client.
  • Negotiate and close deals: Lead the negotiation phase of contracts to ensure mutually beneficial agreements are reached.
  • Collaborate with internal teams: Work closely with marketing, sales, product development, and legal departments to align strategies and ensure smooth execution.
  • Track and report progress: Use CRM software to track interactions, manage the sales pipeline, and report progress toward business development goals. 

Skills and qualifications

A successful BDM possesses a mix of business acumen, interpersonal skills, and technical proficiency. 

  • Strategic thinking: The ability to analyze the bigger picture, spot market gaps, and create strategies that drive meaningful growth.
  • Excellent communication: Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills are essential for pitching proposals and building trust with clients.
  • Negotiation skills: The capacity to effectively negotiate contracts and terms to create a win-win outcome.
  • CRM proficiency: Experience with customer relationship management software like Salesforce or HubSpot to manage leads and track performance.
  • Networking abilities: A genuine interest in building and maintaining professional relationships, both online and at industry events.
  • Problem-solving: The capability to understand client needs and propose creative, effective solutions.
  • Educational background: A bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or a related field is typically required, while an MBA can be a plus.
  • Industry experience: Prior experience in sales, marketing, or a related field, often within a specific industry, is usually expected.
