Business Development Manager (BDM) – Roles & Responsibilities

🔹 1. Purpose of the Role

The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving branch/region-level business growth, achieving revenue targets, ensuring collection efficiency, managing the BDE team, and maintaining full compliance with chit fund regulations and company policies.

🔹 2. Key Responsibilities

2.1 Business Growth & Target Achievement

• Plan and execute business strategies to achieve monthly and annual targets
• Drive subscriber acquisition and overall chit business value
• Monitor branch-wise and territory-wise performance
• Identify new markets and expansion opportunities

2.2 Team Management & Supervision

• Lead, manage, and monitor Business Development Executives (BDEs)
• Assign targets and ensure accountability for performance
• Conduct daily reviews, field visits, and performance evaluations
• Train and develop team members on products, sales, and compliance

2.3 Sales & Business Development

• Oversee promotion of chit schemes and ensure proper market penetration
• Support team in closing high-value and critical business deals
• Ensure achievement of group filling targets within timelines
• Monitor lead generation and conversion efficiency

2.4 Collections & Risk Management

• Ensure high collection efficiency across all groups
• Monitor overdue accounts and enforce recovery actions
• Minimize default risks through proactive follow-ups
• Escalate high-risk or critical cases to senior management

2.5 Customer Relationship Management

• Maintain relationships with key customers and high-value subscribers
• Handle escalated complaints and critical customer issues
• Ensure high customer satisfaction and retention
• Promote referral-based business growth

2.6 Operations & Coordination

• Coordinate with Branch Manager, Operations, and Accounts teams
• Ensure smooth conduct of chit auctions and subscriber participation
• Ensure proper documentation and process adherence
• Support branch-level promotional activities

2.7 Reporting & Performance Monitoring

• Review daily, weekly, and monthly reports of BDEs
• Track KPI performance across team and branch
• Prepare and submit management reports and MIS
• Provide market intelligence and competitor analysis

🔹 3. Compliance & Governance

• Ensure strict adherence to chit fund laws and regulatory guidelines
• Enforce ethical sales practices and prevent mis-selling
• Ensure complete and accurate KYC documentation
• Maintain confidentiality of company and customer data
• Any deviation will attract disciplinary action

🔹 4. Authority & Reporting

• Reports to: Branch Manager / Regional Head
• Supervises: Business Development Executives (BDEs)
• Coordinates with: Operations, Accounts, and Collection Teams

🔹 5. Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

• Team target achievement (%)
• Total business value generated (₹)
• Number of subscribers acquired (team level)
• Collection efficiency (%)
• Overdue/default control
• Team productivity (per BDE performance)
• Customer retention and satisfaction levels

🔹 6. General Conditions

• Targets and responsibilities are subject to revision by management
• Incentives and benefits will be governed by company policy
• Non-performance or misconduct will lead to corrective/disciplinary action
• Incentives may be withheld in case of resignation/termination as per policy
