Role: CSSD Technician

Job Purpose: 

Central sterile supply technician (CSSD) provides sterilization support by preparing equipment and instruments for sterilization in a timely manner along with the associated regulatory documentation.

Job Responsibilities:

• Plan and execute the cleaning & sterilization processes
• Monitor and check decontamination and sterilization processes in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
• Decontaminate used devices using mechanical and manual methods
• Inspect and function testing of devices and report discrepancies to the supervisor immediately
• Operate mechanical processing equipment including washer disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners and sterilizers
• Run validation tests
• Lubricate and separate the instruments that do not function
• Assemble and package devices for sterilization
• Prepare items for sterilization – gauze, cotton and such other consumables
• Load / unload the sterilization materials and arrange them in the sterile store room
• Receive, check and segregate the CSSD items
• Issue the items to the user departments and ensure distribution of processed devices
• Perform material planning and communicate the same to the In Charge
• Ensure cleanliness and housekeeping of the department 
• Collect and transport used medical devices from user areas
• Record relevant data in appropriate logbooks with full clear signature of operative
• Maintaining the registers required as per NABH key quality indicators
• Comply with Health and Safety procedures and observance of requirements for personal hygiene and hospital infection control. 
• Create and update the Standard Operating Procedures related to CSSD
• Recall procedure initiation
• Participate in the use of information technology systems within the sterile services department
• Support other technicians when required

Job Specifications:

• Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Hospital sterilization technology/Diploma in cssd technician 
• Minimum 5yrs of Experience
• Technical Skills / Job related skills: Cleaning, Decontamination, and Disinfection, Sterilization Processes,Sterile Storage and Inventory Management
• Management Skills: Be a good team player, maintain good people relations, maintain a positive attitude
• Communication Skills: Good command over English, Kannada, Good listening skills and ability to display empathy and provide advice
