Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description :

• Develop 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for mechanical components and assemblies using tools like SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent.
• Support the end-to-end NPD process including concept development, prototyping, design validation, and release to manufacturing.
• Perform engineering calculations for strength, tolerance stack-up, thermal and mechanical performance, etc.
• Work closely with Project Engineers, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure design feasibility and cost-effectiveness.
• Apply GD&T and DFM/DFA principles to ensure product reliability and ease of manufacturing.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments (FMEA), and documentation as per organization and regulatory standards.
• Support prototype builds, testing activities, and iterative improvements based on test outcomes.
• Maintain accurate engineering documentation including BOMs, ECOs, and design records.

Essential Skill set:

• Proficient in 3D CAD modeling and drawing creation (Creo/SolidWorks preferred).
• Strong fundamentals in mechanical design, materials, tolerancing, and engineering calculations.
• Hands-on experience in design validation, prototype development, and testing support.
• Knowledge of PLM systems and engineering change management processes.
• Good knowledge on drawing Standards (ISO, ANSI/ASME)
• Hands on experience on Sheet metal & Plastic design.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work on global product development projects independently.

Desirable Skill set:

• Knowledge of various manufacturing processes like injection molding, sheet metal stamping, cast-ings, and forgings.
• Good planning and interpersonal skills
• Experience in working with global, cross-functional teams.
• Exposure to FEA tools or simulation is an advantage.
