PHARMACY AIDE – ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIESDepartment: Pharmacy

Reporting To: Chief Pharmacist / Pharmacy Incharge

• 1. Medication SupportAssist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications under supervision.
• Ensure correct labeling, packaging, and storage of medicines.
• Help in arranging prescriptions for easy processing.
• 2. Inventory ManagementMaintain proper stock levels of medicines and consumables.
• Check expiry dates regularly and remove expired/damaged items.
• Assist in stock entry, GRN, and inventory records.
• Support periodic stock audits.
• 3. Store MaintenanceKeep the pharmacy clean, organized, and hygienic.
• Arrange medicines systematically (batch-wise / category-wise).
• Ensure proper storage conditions (temperature, humidity).
• 4. Patient & Staff CoordinationAssist in handling patient queries (non-clinical).
• Direct patients to pharmacists for medication-related advice.
• Coordinate with nursing and other departments for medication supply.
• 5. Billing & Documentation SupportAssist in billing processes and invoice preparation.
• Maintain records of prescriptions and drug dispensing logs.
• Support documentation for insurance and audit purposes.
• 6. Compliance & SafetyFollow hospital policies, pharmacy regulations, and safety guidelines.
• Ensure proper handling of controlled drugs as per protocol.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information.
• 7. Emergency & Shift DutiesBe available for emergency medication support.
• Work in rotational shifts as per hospital requirements.
• 8. Additional ResponsibilitiesSupport pharmacists during peak hours.
• Assist in implementation of digital pharmacy systems (if applicable).
• Perform any other duties assigned by management.
• Key Skills RequiredBasic knowledge of medicines and pharmacy operations
• Attention to detail
• Good communication skills
• Basic computer knowledge (billing/software)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
