Job Description
Power Electronics Engineer
Responsibilities
- Design and develop advanced power electronics systems, including:
- AC-DC converters (Flyback, Forward, LLC, PFC)
- Isolated and non-isolated DC-DC converters (Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, SEPIC)
- Battery Management Systems (BMS) for Li-ion / LiFePO4
- Motor control systems (BLDC / PMSM – FOC preferred)
- EV chargers, inverters, and industrial power supplies
- Perform:
- Power stage design and magnetics calculations
- Transformer and inductor design
- Efficiency optimization and thermal calculations
- Select, evaluate, and validate:
- MOSFETs, IGBTs, SiC/GaN devices
- Gate drivers, current sensors, shunt amplifiers
- Protection components (TVS, MOV, snubbers)
- Design and validate:
- Overcurrent, overvoltage, short-circuit, reverse polarity protection
- EMI/EMC mitigation (filter design, grounding, layout best practices)
- Thermal management (heatsinks, airflow, thermal simulation)
- Perform:
- Oscilloscope-based switching waveform analysis
- Efficiency, ripple, transient response, and load testing
- Integrate power stages with:
- Embedded control firmware (PWM, ADC sampling, control loops)
- Closed-loop control algorithms (PID, FOC, current/voltage regulation)
- Support:
- Design validation testing (DVT)
- Pre-compliance testing (EMI/EMC)
- Transition from prototype to production
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong fundamentals in:
- Analog electronics
- Control systems
- Power electronics topologies
- Embedded systems
- Deep understanding of:
- Switching behavior and losses
- Magnetics design
- Stability and loop compensation
- Hands-on experience in:
- Hardware–firmware co-design
- Product lifecycle (Concept → Prototype → EVT → DVT → Production)
- Strong debugging capability using:
- Oscilloscope, power analyzer, thermal camera
- Signal analysis and fault tracing
- Strong documentation, schematic review, and design validation skills
Good to Have
- Experience in:
- EV systems, chargers, BMS, energy storage
- Industrial automation or high-power systems
- Motor control using FOC algorithms
- Familiarity with:
- CE, FCC, IEC, UL compliance processes
- Automotive standards (ISO 26262 – added advantage)
- Exposure to:
- Manufacturing support and vendor coordination
- Field deployment troubleshooting
